Using the Dice Bot

Once you're approved, you will need to add your character to Inconnu, which only takes a minute or two. Check the , which will guide you through the process. The documentation also goes over all of Inconnu's other features and how to use them.

Messy Criticals and Bestial Failures

If you suffer a messy critical or a bestial failure, you may usually click the Re-roll Failures or Avoid Messy buttons on the roll, which might help you escape complications. Be sure to click Mark WP afterward. If you can't or don't want to avoid the complication, ping @Storyteller for further instructions.

Only ping if you're keeping the outcome! There's no need to ask if you're allowed to re-roll. The buttons to do so will only appear if your character is able to, though they will become disabled after ten minutes. Once they are disabled, you will be unable to click the re-roll buttons, so make sure that you have some time set aside when you choose to roll.

Awakening and Blush

After reset, you may post an awakening vignette if you want the extra experience. All vampires, including Thin-Bloods, must perform a wake-up Rouse check (use the /awaken command). For those who need to, rolling Blush of Life (/bol) is optional. If your character is staying inside their haven or sneaking around places that mortals don't tend to go (the sewers, a cave system, etc), there is no need to Blush. If your character intends to go to locations that mortals frequent at night, Blush is all but required to maintain the Masquerade. Heavy cover clothing (hoodies, face masks, gloves, sunglasses) can help but should only be used if your character's chances of being spotted are small and brief. For example, these outfits will typically attract attention when going to the supermarket.

Slaking Hunger

Use /slake to reduce your character's Hunger after they hunt or slake from their Herd. If they are at Hunger 4 or 5, click the frenzy check button and ping @Storyteller if you fail.

  • Bagged Blood: 2 that may be slaked later but must be refrigerated within 30 minutes. Does not carry Resonance.

  • Corpse: Up to 3 from an incredibly fresh corpse. A body already fed from or missing parts will slake less. Does not carry Resonance.

  • Human: Up to 2 safely. Anything above 2 slakes will result in blood loss and cause either Aggravated damage or death.

  • Vampire: Up to 5, each Hunger slaked increases the Hunger of the kindred being fed from.

  • Animal: Depends on the animal hunted. See the chart on p.212 of the Core book for some examples.

Mending Damage

Superficial health damage can be relatively quickly healed at any time with the /mend command. The /aggheal command heals Aggravated health damage, which can only be done upon waking and heals more slowly. These commands (and many others) take your character's Blood Potency (chart available on p.216 of the Core book) into account. They will also make the appropriate amount of rouse checks.

Hunting

A critical win on the hunt roll allows your character to get a resonance level one higher than what they rolled.

Social Rolls

Players should respect the builds and abilities of other characters. While you are not obligated to play out scenes that make you uncomfortable (and are encouraged to notify staff if you find yourself in this situation), you should always respect roll results from other players. Not everyone is a master manipulator or a charismatic ball of sunshine out-of-character and shouldn't be made to feel like they can only play characters similar to themselves.

Hunting and hunger management are central themes of V5. Each character gets three hunt attempts per night. They may use this either for themselves or to benefit another character. Standard hunt difficulties are noted in the channel for corresponding key locations. If no difficulty is noted, use three plus any modifiers noted in .

You will note in the that hunting vignettes can earn you one experience per week. You must link this in your experience request to get credit for it.
